Metro 2034 will be in 3D
THQ announced that Metro 2033 will have a sequel. It is currently in development and will be in3D. This sequel will be entitled Metro 2034.
The sequel will also be based on a Dmitry Glukhovsky novel (such as the first game) so we can have a nice idea of the storyline reading the review of the book (here).
But let say a bit more about the book’s story: it takes place one year after Metro 2033 (but anyone could have guessed that), in a different metro station. The post apocalyptic Russia is in Sevastopolskaya, a rural outskirts of Moscow. In the book, the station has turned to a power resource for the metro centre. But one day, the stationt loses contact with the others and here starts the nightmare.
The sequel, in the book, introduces a white mist (such as Lost’s Black Smoke) that kills anyone that get too close to it. However, we don’t know if it will be in the Metro 2034.
Metro 2033 – First Information on the Upcoming DLC
THQ announced on Facebook the first Dlc for Metro 2033. The Dlc will be entitled “Ranger Pack” and will be released on Steam and on Xbox 360. We don’t know when the Dlc is set for and we have no indication about the price.
“After much speculation, we can finally confirm the contents of the upcoming Dlc for Metro 2033!
The ‘Ranger Pack’ adds new weapons, new achievements and the deadly ‘Ranger Mode’ game rules. In standard Ranger Mode, ammo is dramatically reduced and all weapons and attacks cause more damage. Your foes are deadlier than ever – but then, so are you…
‘Ranger Hardcore’ adds an additional challenge as the HUD is totally removed, creating the most immersive Metro 2033 experience yet.
Rise to the challenge with two new weapons – the Heavy Automatic Shotgun, and the Volt Driver, Miller’s signature gun. New achievements and 250 Gamerscore points are up for grabs.
The Ranger Pack will be released on both Xbox LIVE Marketplace and Steam in the very near future, with pricing to be confirmed closer to release.
We’ll have more info on the weapons and achievements right here over the next few days…”
Metro 2033 will have a DLC or what?
THQ explained on Facebook why Metro 2033’s Xbox 360 gamers can find a patch available since the game’s released. Well, the patch adds some options but, and here is why it’s interesting, the possibility to add a future Dlc… “we have been turning our thoughts to potential Dlc“.
Here are the details of the patch:
360 players may have noticed that a Title Update went live for Metro 2033.
There’s a couple of reasons for this – primarily it’s to allow the game to accept Dlc further down the line – with the game now finished, we have been turning our thoughts to potential Dlc. We’ve got some ideas, but nothing we can talk about right now other than to say it won’t be new SP narrative content, ‘missing levels’ or anything like that – it’s something we’re only just starting production on.
And no, it’s not multiplayer! That would be very cool, but sadly not possible…
However, we also took the opportunity to add a new Weapon Select system tailored to the 360 pad. The existing weapon select system was based around the typical PC gaming set-up, and whilst it works ok we got some feedback at recent community events just prior to launch that a more console-friendly system would be appreciated. We think the new change nails it.
Once the title update is applied, you need to select the new Weapon Select scheme from the Game Options. Go to Options / Controls and change Inventory from Linear to Circular.
With the new control scheme applied, some of the buttons will change function:
L / R on the D-Pad now checks your Watch / Timer
Left Bumper Button now applies a Med-Kit
Y Button now changes weapon. A single ‘Tap’ alternates between your Knife and your equipped Ranged Weapon. A ‘Press and Hold’ brings up the Weapon select wheel – use the left Stick to equip a different ranged weapon
This means you are always one button press from your knife, and two moves from any weapon in your inventory
The update also adds an in-game brightness setting (The Gamma Correction option in main Option).

We have to wait for Metro 2033 DLC
Juw Benyon said: “We’ve not even talked about story-based Dlc. Metro 2033’s is a self-contained story, it comes to a definite end when you finish the game. I think that’s really important, that if you play through to the end you get a proper closure on the story.”
Metro 2033 is already available on Steam and will be released on March 16th.
