Killzone 3 Preview – Who are the Helghast?
Killzone 3 takes place on planet Helghan. It’s an hostile planet where Mother Nature isn’t friendly including lightning storms and poisonous clouds (which explains the gaz mask of the Helghast).
But the Helghast aren’t only stupid enemies looking for killing you because you are the good guy. Guerrilla Games has created a whole ideology and stroyline inspired by the greater conflicts of the 20th century. And then starts the conflict between the planet Vekta and planet Helghan: an imbalance in power which, as usually in humanity, creates war.
Originally, the Helghans ruled two planets: Helghan and Vekta. They became rich, powerful, technologically-advanced. And when a race rises in power, the other races consider them as a threat. When the Helghast wanted to take their independence and become and independent state, Earth understood that it was an insurrection of a rebellious colony. And that is how a war began and how Earth started a diplomatic embargoe on Helghan.
Bulletstorm – Preview
Bulletstorm impressed everyone with their beautiful screenshots. We had few in-game footage taken from the E3 last month which confirmed that Bulletstorm wasn’t wrong when promising “killing with style“. Even if a lot of AAA FPS are about to arrive in shops, this one attracted my attention directly. Let see what we know about the game.
Bulletstorm is developed by People Can Fly, owned by Epic and published by Ea. It uses an advanced Unreal 3 technology to create a beautiful FPS focused on violence, action and a strong gameplay.
Rage – The Post-E3 Preview
After the impressive in-game videos revealed during the E3 (click here if you missed that) I wanted to know more about Rage’s gameplay. Rage is developed by id Software, those who created Wolfenstein 3D and Doom and which hasn’t released a new franchise since 10 years. id Software has a huge impact on the video game industry and created one of the major, if not THE major, video game genre: the first-person shooters.
id Software work on the 5th version of the id Tech which is used for Rage. According to Rage results, it sounds clear that it is one of the best engines ever.
FEAR 3 Preview – More Details on the Co-op Gameplay
This preview will, I hope, change a bit your mind after the previous trailer of FEAR 3. I mean, the previous trailer was a kind of terrible news for those who enjoyed the series: the shitty in-game footage mixed with a ridiculous real-movie action. More, the storylin isn’t more complicated than a super-genetically-modified-soldier fighting Alma the nasty ghost owith the help of his psychotic brother. However I must admit I feel much more enthusiastic by the gameplay than by the previous trailer and storyline seems a bit more complicated. Let’s forget it and start from the beginning.
F.E.A.R 3 lets you play Point Man, F.E.A.R 1 original hero wasn’t in F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin’s main character who was a totally new one (from the Delta Force soldier: Michael Becket). Alma, the main supernatural character, sexually trapped Becket to create a super-natural son such as Point Man and Paxton Fettel. Point Man is back to solve the situation, his angry-ghosted brother after / with him (Point Man killed him at the end of the 1st game).
Killzone 3 Preview – What we Can Expect
Today Guerrilla Games presents Killzone 3 to the press. Some had the chance to see the game running for the very first time during an event in San Francisco. Guerrilla Games communicated the key points but no release date was confirmed. Everything was presented in full 3D!
Killzone 3 promises a more epic adventure: more environment, more weapons, more vehicles and more enemies. The game seems to have more scripted levels with many cinematics and events accross your way through Helgan.
Levels are incredibly bigger than in Killzone 2: Joystiq reported that “Hulst revealed that this demo level was 10 times the size of a typical Killzone 2 level, allowing for Guerrilla’s designers to create multiple paths through it, expanding on the largely linear settings of the game’s predecessor.” We will cross frozen lands, alien jungles, a nuclear wasteland, and an orbital space station.
More details on Call of Duty: Black Ops – “Stealth will plays a big part”
WePlayCod published several scans of the last issue of OXMÂ revealing tons of details on Call of Duty: Black Ops and new screenshots.
These scans are taken from the Official Xbox Magazine who had an exclusive interview with Treyarch.
Rage – Preview
Rage. What a name for a First-Person Shooter video game! Such an emotion, a feeling that beats your stomac. Rage has been the new id Software’s intellectual property since a dozen of years. It’s running with the id Tech 5 engine which is a new version of the mythic FPS engine-creator. It’s a new hope for FPS lovers.
The game has no release date confirmed yet but we know that it will be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 next year.
Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition on Xbox Live this Weekend
Zeno Clash will be on Xbox Live this weekend! On May 5th, Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition will finally be ported on Xbox 360 a year after having discretely hinted the Xbox. The First-Person Shooter lead you through a strange universe and gameplay. Shooting isn’t the main activity of the game: guns are strange and weapons are most of the time resumed to your fists!
On each area you will face a new opponent. Each stage finishes in a small arena to face the boss. GameInformer talked about “an ultra-weird first-person version of Double Dragon than any traditional FPS.” Prepare for melee battles!
Bodycount – Preview
Bodycount is THE upcoming FPS developed under Stuart Black’s control. This FPS is decided to honor big guns, in oppositition with the main trend which develops realistic militarian FPS. One common point, however, is the destructible environment which is the big trend of 2010.
Stuart Black is the kind of master highly respected in the video games industry, especially thanks to its successful Black released on PS2. Bodycount was supposed to be inspired by Lady Gaga!
Stuart Black defines Bodycount’s philosophy to The Guardian:
“Outrageous fun is one of the things we talk about a lot. We want to give people the sensation of glee when they squeeze that trigger, it’s an addictive more-ish quality. You just want to keep doing it. We’re talking about making a cool combat experience. We’re not interested in covering all the usual bases, we’re confidant enough in what we’re delivering…”
Halo: Reach Beta Modes Details
There are no downsides to skull carrying other than the danger of dying and turning over your hard-earned loot to the enemy.” In fact, you have full access to weapons and abilities while skull-slinging. Community Director Brian Jarrard provides a pro-tip with, “Sprint is super-useful for Headhunter — it helps close that distance between your foot in the zone and scoring, versus dying just short of the goal and losing all of your skulls.”
There are only few details about the Invasion Mode. We know that it will take place on Boneyard (a mysterious map for the moment) on which a lot of vehicles will be playable. “It’s a vehicle-full frenzy!” and Carroll added: “It’s really big — nice and spacious to drive around in. A little bit bigger than Sandtrap even.”
