Half-Life 2: Human Error Coop Beta Live
Half-Life 2: Short Stories has developed a mod for Half-Life 2: Human Error and has released an update. Human Error was released on May 31st, 2010 but the team has decided to improve your experience and releases an extension: 2 traitor mode maps. It’s a coop – Beta which let you play up to 4 metrocop characters from Human Error EP1.
The traitor mode is a pretty fun mode with a cool and simple rule: in the beginning of each round one of the players is selected as the Traitor, while other do not know who he is.
The second episode of Human Error will be developed around the co-op concept picking up where the first episode left off. Don’t forget that at the moment it’s a Beta: the developers team is looking for feedbacks about the concept, the network…
The beta includes currently two maps: Backbone and Leech, both utilising Traitor Mode.
Two others are on their way with will feature slight variations on the core concept.
Here is a description of the Traitor Mode by the developers team:
What is Traitor Mode
Traitor Mode is set firmly within the established Human Error world, with players taking on the roles of main characters Anders, Noah, Eloise and Larson. The civil protection team are pitted once again against the rebel forces, but this time there’s an additional danger: one member of the team is a traitor. It’s up to players to figure out who the traitor is before they allow the rebels to complete their objective.
You can download the Human Error coop Mode here on ModDB
Crysis – The Cel Shader Mod
This new mod is particularly interesting: it changes Crysis Wars or Crysis engine with a cel-shading look. Crysis was visually exceptionnal but this mod has decided to turn the game’s graphics to a new visual experience. If you have enjoyed Borderlands for example, this is perfect for you! I have installed the mod and it works perfectly. It is very cool and proposes a new visual experience. If, like me, you enjoy the cel-shading technology, you will love this mod.
The cel-shading transformation is truelly impressive: really cool and precise. It can run with DirectX 9.
You can download the Cel Shader Mod for Crysis here (on Crymod.com). The installation is pretty easy: go to your Crysis game folder -> Electronic Arts -> Crytek -> Crysis -> Game and copy the downloaded file zz_ ***. pak into the current game folder (Game).

2 – Zombie Panic
Zombies… do you know anything funnier in FPS?? I love zombies and this is why I love this mod! This Half-Life 2 mod features a classic zombie outbreak scenario. Close to Left 4 Dead, the living dead are coming to eat the last humans and you have to survive and live through the day!
The deal is rather clear: zombies want to eat humans and humans want to survive as long as they can. Among that struggle, you will get objectives. When a human is caught by a zombie: he becomes an undead!
Humans can move 20% faster than any zombie (however, they do get slower according to their weaponry and ammo), they also have a large selection of weapons to defend themselves such as firearms, explosives and melee weapons. But you spawn with a melee weapon and a handgun, which is not bad! You will then have to run around to find the best weapons: that is why teamwork is important.
Each match starts with 1 zombie on the map who will infect other players. The zombies can regenerate their hit points and have a Z-vision which ables them to see in the dark. It also allows them to track down humans by leading them right to their target thanks to a blood trail. As you see, this is a complete and tense mod awaiting for you! This is the 2nd ultimate mod for Half-Life 2! It can be downloaded on Steam (here).
1 – Dystopia

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 Turns to Mission Improbable
Mission Improbable is a singleplayer mod for Half-Life 2: Episode 2. The mod proposes 3 maps which are released seperately. For the moment 2 maps have been released, the 3rd one is under development. The 2 first maps are entitled: Mission Improbable and Reverse Advance and are quite fun!
Part 1, named Mission Improbable was released all the way back in July 2009. But this part has been updated for its new release with the Part 2.
I’ve tried the 2 first maps and enjoyed it. It doesn’t pretend to be a revolution of the game but it’s a pleasant way to play Episode 2 with new interesting maps.

Chivalry: Battle for Agatha on UDK – Mods are Taking their Independence!
Some of you certainly remember Age of Chivalry. It was a fantastic mod for Half-Life 2 set in medieval times. The good news is that the mod will have a sequel: Chivalry: Battle for Agatha which will be developed with UDC as an independant game.
CHIVALRY: Battle for Agatha is a first-person medieval online combat game that seeks to deliver the intensity of epic hollywood medieval block busters to the hands of a gamer. CHIVALRY hurls the player into a fictional yet realistic medieval world where the Agathian Knights are battling against the newly formed Mason Order for control of the lands of Agatha.
Team Chivalry, the mod’s developer’s team, is going with Epic’s Unreal Development Kit (UDC) to build an entire independant game based on Half-Life 2. We can than expect an entire project!
With Terminator which was originally developed on Gears of war, this is the second mod we preview that take it independance, seduced by the UDC solution.
Portal + Team Fortress 2 = Team Portress
3-Point Games community member, Pawn developed a mod for Team Fortress 2 which proposes to use the legendary Portal guns into the online FPS.
The Portals are very useful and imply new strategies. There is a timer for each portal in order to avoid being stuck in perpetual loops. You can also kill any active portals in the game.
However, we will have to wait a bit more: the mod still needs to fix some bugs and to be polished.
PixelatedGeek commented the mod:
After building a level 3 sentry gun, they would create an exit portal right next to the gun, go find an enemy to fight with their shotguns, switch to the Portal gun, then shoot an entrance portal at their feet. If you can’t see what happens next in your head, I’ll spell it out for you. The enemy gets teleported right in front of the sentry gun for a sweet instant kill for the engineer. Now, how’s that for an “engy” update?
