Bungie Signed a 10-years Publishing Agreement with Activision

Activision has found its new Infinity Ward!

Beyond Activision’s troubles with Infinity Ward and its staff leaving the boat, Bungie has announced a 10-year publishing agreement with Activision. Activision will receive exclusive and worldwide rights to publish all Bungie’s games: the Bungie’s “next big action game universe.” Activision will then choose the plaforms and devices for the upcoming games which clearly means that Bungie’s Xbox exclusivity is past.

This surprising deal is the result of 9 months of work and Bungie is presented has an independant studio: Activision doesn’t own the studio. The intellectual property remains to Bungie. This would have been pretty hard for Activision to make another deal according to the conflict they had with the ex bosses of Infinity Wars, Vince Zampella and Jason West.

Activision has replaced Infinity Ward with a new lead FPS developer studio.
Activision isn’t kind with the Xbox:
“This agreement is about bringing Bungie’s new intellectual property to gamers worldwide on the platform of their choice, and at the same time, further drive Activision’s profitable growth opportunities in a way that’s accretive to operating income margins.”

Microsoft commented this new deal through a spokesperson to CVG:
“Our partnership with Bungie as a first-party developer for Xbox 360 remains unchanged, and right now we’re deeply engaged with them on the development of Halo Reach, which is poised to be the biggest game of 2010.”

Bungie split with Microsoft in 2007 in order to become and independent studio.Remember  that Bungie supposed that their future game might be released on PS3: that was a coming deal with Activision.
